Barren land now produces rice 25,000 kg

Thiruvananthapuram: Municipality Attingal, which was tied with ‘Padasekhara Samithi’ Koduman ‘to take rice farming in one of the barren plots, recently produced the results of a 25,000 kg defeat.
Padi fields were flooded twice, but the team did not want to give up on natural disasters.
“We grow rice twice a year.
This year, the field flooded and fortunately the plants were not damaged.
We have started work for the following season which will begin in 20 days,” said Sasidharan Nair, President Padasekhara Samithy.
Five hectares of land cultivated with ‘uma’, high rice varieties.
Rice cultivation in the municipality began in 2017.
For this purpose, the farmer’s association was formed.
This association includes 22 agriculture from the region.
The land that has been barren for 18 years is converted into rice fields by farmers with the help of machines.
The municipality has decided to provide rice to Civil Supply Corporation after giving it to the locals.
Rice will be sold with a number of Rs 28 per kg.
After 120 days of maintaining, plants are harvested with the help of modern machines.
“We have cultivated rice for the past four years and we have seen regular improvements in the results every year,” Prabha B L, Attingal Agriculture Officer.
As part of the ‘Subhiksha Keramed’ project, Attingal City and Samithy Padashekara have started rice cultivation in barren land.
The municipality is in the process of converting more barren soil to farmland.
Harvesting was carried out under the guidance of the chairman of Deputy City G Thulasedharan Pillai, a member of the Bangsal Board of Sangeetharan, a member of Padasekhara Samithy, including Girijan, Narayana Pillai, Balan Pillai, Prabhakaran, Ramachandran Nair, Sreaangan, Murukan and Sasidharan Nair.
