The Kerber game went to Tieberreak and Barty surged to 6-0 and despite losing three match points he would never let his chances slip.
A backhand was netted from Kerber sent Barty to his second grand slam final, after winning the French Open in 2019.
He will face Karolina Pliskova or the second seed Aryna Sabalenka in the Showpiece Saturday – first since 1977 that the two finalists were in their first.
