Sydney: World number one Ashleigh Barty confirmed she would compete at the Tokyo Olympics on Tuesday, handling a strong Australian tennis team for a strong match that included Firebrand Nick Kyrgios.
Barty’s announcement came only a day after the four-time gold medal Serena Williams revealed she would miss the match, which would also be without Spanish Rafael Nadal.
France Open Champion 2019 Barty, 25, said he intends to compete in both singles and doubles in the match.

Stosur and Barty joined Ajla Tomljanovic in a woman’s single, with Barty working with Barty Storm sanders in double and stosur with Ellen Perez.
John Millman and James Duckworth joined Kyrgios and De Minaur, who won International Eastbourne last week, in Single Putra.
Millman will partner with Luke Saville and John Peers will play with De Minaur in the men’s doubles.
The mixed double pair will be announced on July 27.
