Thiruvananthapuram: Commemorating 27-year anniversary of Vaikom’s legendary writer Muhammad Basheer, some interesting characters were turned on by school students of LP School, Kilimanoor.
It is the fourth consecutive year that school students have recreated the character of Basheer.
Interestingly, this is not just a simple recreation, all of its characters have been adapted with contemporary scenarios.
Because of the pandemic, this year, the teacher visited a student home to prepare them for this program.
Every year as part of Vidyarangam’s activities when Sahithya Vedi, a club that aims to foster literary and artistic activities of the students, the teachers ensure that the warning of the death of veteran writers is observed.
This time, the short novel Sultan Sultan ‘Ntuppupakkoranendarnnu’ was adapted to fit the theme, freedom for women.
The script for video adaptation, ‘Velichathinu Entiru Velicham’ was prepared by Vidyarangam when Sahithya Vedi Teacher responsible, MC Abhilash.
“Increased awakening of women in our country encourages me to choose a theme that deals with women’s freedom.
I am very happy that students and parents can understand the importance of the theme in contemporary society,” Abhilash said.
With such adaptation, students get acquainted with almost all Basheer characters, who present the thought of Lofts in a simple language.
Using WhatsApp, the teachers tell the story of Basheer to students so they will find out the detail minutes of the character they will portrait.
