Raipur: Little seeds may be proven to major game-changer in Bastar.
The government of Baghel Bhupesh has covered all seven regencies of the Maoist Hit Bastar Division in the ‘Millet Mission’ launched on Friday.
The state even offers incentives to rice farmers to switch to millet.
“We will invest RS 170 Crore for the next five years in a millet mission.
Farmers who plant codo-kodo-kodo plants and yeast will be given input assistance of Rs 9,000 per hectare and those who choose this plant, not rice will get Rs 10,000 per acre, “CM said.
Chhattisgarh is the first country to provide input assistance for millet.
It has fixed support prices for Kodo-Kalkki with RS 3,000 per quintal.
The government signed the MoU with the Indian Millet Research Institute based in Hyderabad (IIMR) for technical knowledge and to train farmers to change Chhattisgarh to ‘Millet Hub’.
“Like minor forest products, we want to make small grain plants as well as the power of Chhattisgarh.
This will give a new identity to the state,” Baghel Saidat Signing of Mou.
Moodo-Kiski, Yeast was planted in 20 Chhattisgarh Regency.
In the first phase, the MoU was signed with 14 of them – cancer of the Bastar Division, Kondagaon, Bastar, Dantewada, Bijapur, Sukma, and Narayanpur, plus Rajnandgaon, Kawardha, Gaurela-Marwahi, Balrah, Baltram, and Jashpur.
