Pune: Health Minister Maharashtra Rajesh Tope has told collectors throughout the state to choose the steps intended for persuasion and not coercion to increase vaccination.
He said he would immediately lead a meeting with all collectors to understand the plan they had prepared to ensure every beneficiary was given at least one dose on 30 November.
“We want public participation to speed up the drive,” we said.
The statement assumed the significance considering some collectors, including the aurangabad collector, had made at least one mandatory JAB vaccine for residents to buy fuel and ration.
Tope tells the Toi that weekly review meetings will be held with collectors, and they will be directed to include NGOs, the federation of housing communities and local leaders to get their help in reaching beneficiaries.
