Bhubaneswar: The light of moderate rainfall put several parts of the country on Thursday because of the influence of low pressure that has turned into a well-marked system in Bengal, the IMD report states.
IMD rainfall reports recorded on Thursday morning said Komna in Nuapada District received 75 mm highest rainfall in the state.
The IMD forecast said because the system, rainfall will continue in many places for two more days.
It comes in the middle of a heavy rainy yellow warning in isolated places.
H R Biswas, Director of the Central IMD Center, said most places in the state tended to witness rainfall on Friday.
There is also a possibility of heavy shower in Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Balangir and District Nubada.
Biswas said the intensity of rainfall would be reduced on Saturday and down further from the following days.
Meanwhile, several low-lying areas in the state capital continued to suffer from water logging after rain Thursday.
The city has 32 vulnerable locations that witness this problem every year.
Some of these areas include Gauri Garden, Jagmohan Nagar, Counter Complex, Nayapalli Behera Sahi and the Laxmi Sagar area, Jaydev Vihar and the road in front of the Iskcon Temple in Nayapalli.
“Water logging has become a major challenge for Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) because of endless drainage work, encroachment and deposition of mud in the water channel.
The government must discuss this issue thoroughly and take the steps needed to resolve this problem,” said Mahendra Parida, a member of the civil society.
A BMC senior official said the master plan was needed to manage the waterways and stopped logging in the city.
