BBMP slapped tax notifications at Bengalureans who were tired of Covid

Bengaluru: Thousands of property owners are very angry because BBMP has slapped their notifications, accusing them to assess their property tax since 2016-17 and demanding the payment of its shortcomings along with interest.
Girish Nag M, a resident of JP Nagar, said: “We have paid property tax according to the BBMP website.
Now, accuse us of avoiding taxes.
The BBMP asked us to pay a penalty for the past four years.
Who has money because we are all hit by covid- 19? “The Superior Commissioner of the BBMP Gaurav Gupta said,” We are looking for a problem.
The zone is determined and some people choose the wrong zone.
We have not changed the zone category in the past.
We will make a decision after assessing the situation.
“Special Commissioner, Revenue Department, Civic Agency is not available for comments.
The city is divided into six zones based on the value of guidance properties for property tax calculations and varies from zones to zones.
During 2016-17, zone boundaries that determine rearrbed property tax and many wards move to zones where property tax is higher.
The property owner in the BBMP property tax limit after its own assessment, both online or offline in the BBMP office, after filling out a form requesting details such as the property area, whether it is used by the owner or if it has been rented.
Citizens are said to say BBMP should not wait for four years to improve things.
“Should notify us at first.
We have sent notifications now to choose the wrong zone and pay less property tax.
I have to pay more than Rs 8,000 and RS 16,000 penalty and RS 8,000 interest, it is a total RS 32,000,” Girish added.
Although the notification was dated in February, it was issued for Girish and several other citizens of the whole ward only three weeks ago.
“They might wait for Covid-19 to decrease a little before issuing notice.
What is not understood by the city is that the city recovers from Covid-19.
Many of us experience losses, especially commercial companies, and are asked to pay a fine of RS 3 Lakh , “Girish added.
Amba Prasad, a resident of Colony Vysya Bank, Arekere, also received BBMP notification a few weeks ago.
“As soon as I upload my PID (property identification number), all the details about the property appear.
The tax is automatically calculated and I only need to pay the amount.
It should ensure everything was changed four years ago.
Instead, he has sent us a notification with only 30 days to Back.
In our colony, 25 residents received this notice.
We now plan to write to BBMP and also approach the former Corporator for assistance, “he said.
Sathya Kumar, a citizen of Mysore Bank Colony, said, “During these difficult times, while other governments released taxes, BBMP imposes penalties to us without our error.
Such abuse is unfair.
The population group must gather to submit a petition against this.
