New Delhi: BCCI on Monday announced that domestic cricket affected by 2020-21 seasons will be paid 50 percent of additional match costs as compensation for interference and also raise their remuneration for the upcoming season.
Many Indian crickets fought financially after the trophy Ranji was not held last year for the first time in its history due to Covid-19 pandemic.
The BCCI compensation package for these players is awaited for a long time.
“Cricketers who participated in the 2019-20 domestic season will get 50 percent of additional match costs as compensation for the 2020-21 season lost due to the Covid-19 situation,” said Secretary General BCCI in a tweet.
The decision to compensate and increase the cost of the match was taken during the BCCI Apex Board meeting on Monday.
The cost per day for the top Ranji Cricketers, which has played more than 40 matches, also almost doubled it to Rs 60,000, which will ensure that the player produces Rs 2.40 lakh per first grade match.
Those who have played 21 to 40 matches will be paid by RS 50,000, while players with less experience will be entitled to RS 40,000 per day remuneration.
This step is likely to benefit more than 2,000 men’s cricketers from under 16 to senior level.
Shah also said that domestic players will be paid for increasing match fees.
According to the announcement, cricket in the Under-23 and Under-19 category each will get Rs 25,000 and 20,000 per day.
“I am happy to announce an increase with the cost of the match for domestic cricketers,” Shah Tweeted.
Before Monday’s decision, the first XI player in the trophy Ranji match was entitled to Rs 35,000 per day.
For the Trophy Syed Mushtaq Ali, BCCI pays the hospital.
17,500 per game.
BCCI also announced remuneration for women’s Cricketers and senior players will now be paid by Rs 20,000 per match, not Rs 12,500.
Recommendations to increase payments made by the Work Committee consisting of former Indian captain Mohamed Azharuddin, Yudhvir Singh, Santosh Menon, Jaydev Shah, Avishek Dalmiya, Rohan Jaitley and Devajit Saikia.
