BCCI is willing to wait for the decision to include two franchises for IPL 2022

New Delhi: Indian cricket board wants to include two new franchises in the Indian Premier League (IPL) ahead of next year’s edition.
However, the process is still in work and will require market analysis and its feasibility, the Top BCCI Office carrier said.
“We want to have two franchises in the IPL next year but we have to look at the market and also assess the situation that applies in this country.
We cannot guarantee the timeline because there are many things we have to consider,” said the control board for Cricket in India (BCCI) Arun Dhumal Treasurer to IANs on Monday.
There was a conversation that Ahmedabad could hold one of the franchises.
However, the offer process must take place before the final decision to recognize the new franchise is taken.
While the IPL 2021 was suspended in the middle of the road this year (after 29 of the 60 matches played) because of the emergence of Covid-19 cases in four of the eight franchises, the remaining edition of this year will be played from September 19 to October 15 in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
The control board for cricket in India (BCCI) is planning a mega auction before next year.
In the Mega auction, except for three retentions and two right-to-match card players (RTM), all players were lowered in the bid pool.
If two franchises are added, then there must be a mega auction.
This will involve additional compatibility and wider windows.
The board wants to wait and watch.
