MUMBAI: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) Needs the International Cricket Council (ICC) to Raise the hosting Charges for ICC tournaments Such as the World Cup and the Champions Trophy, else It Won’t bid for Occasions at the 2023-31 cycle, a Resource from the BCCI told TOI on Sunday.
The thing was that the only real issue on the agenda of this BCCI Apex Council meeting that was held on Sunday nearly.
“It had been mentioned that although Cricket Australia (CA) will be receiving $91 million to hosting the T20 World Cup the next season, the BCCI will receive $67 million for hosting this moment.
Apparently, this sum of the hosting charges was determined in 2013.
But, it is not reasonable.
The Apex Council has resisted the office-bearers of their BCCI to take up this matter with the ICC, from the ICC’s next board meeting on June 28, in which the hosting of another ICC cycle of Board occasions will be discussed.
If this fee isn’t raised, the BCCI won’t run for any ICC occasions at the 2023-2031 cycle,” the source advised.
“Even if the BCCI doesn’t figure out how to find tax exemption, then this staging fee is much less for hosting the ICC event,” he explained.
The following cycle of ICC events, place the 2023 World Cup, comprises the 2027 and 2031 ODI World Cupsplus a couple of T20 World Cups, and 2 Champions championships in 2025 and 2029.
