KABUL: Taliban won the capital of Afghan Province and killed the government’s top media officers in Kabul on Friday, dealing with Twin High-Profile Blowows to the administration supported by the West.
A police spokesman in the South Nimroz Province said the capital of Zaraj had fallen into the hardline Islamist due to lack of reinforcements from the government.
Fighting to re-handle the strict Islamic law after 2001 which was led by US-led forces, the Taliban had intensified their campaign to defeat US-backed government when foreign forces resolved their withdrawal after 20 years.
The rebels have taken the dozens of border districts and crossings in recent months and put pressure on several provincial capitals, including Herat in the West and Kandahar in the south, when foreign troops withdraw.
Zaranj was the first provincial capital that fell into the group because the United States reached an agreement with the Taliban in February 2020 for the pull of US troops.
A local source said the Taliban had confiscated the governor’s office, the police headquarters and the expression near the Iranian border.
The Taliban source said the group celebrated, and the fall of Zaranj would increase their moral fighters in other provinces.
The Taliban commander, talking to the terms of anonymously, said having a strategic interest because it was on the border with Iran.
“This is the beginning and see how other provinces fall in our hands soon,” he said.
In Kabul, the Taliban striker killed Dawa Khan, the head of the government and information center, no later than a series of murders aimed at the weakening of the President of Ashraf Ghani who was democratically elected by the government.

At least 10 Afghan soldiers and an armed member commander belonging to the Dostum Militia group Abdul Rashid in the northern province of Jowzjan was killed.
“The Taliban launched a violent attack on the outskirts (provincial capital) of Seberghan this week and during the heavy clash of commanders of government militia troops loyal to the custom killed,” said Abdul Qader Malia, Deputy Governor of the Province of Jowzjan.
Other provincial council members said nine of the 10 Jowzjan districts were now controlled by the Taliban and the contest to control Seberghan ongoing.
