Vadodara: Two workers, involved in cleaning the drainage line mechanism in the city, beaten by Mali Mohalla residents on Jalan Dabhoi on Monday.
The incident occurred when three workers had left to follow the complaints of the drainage line suffocated in the area.
They have taken a jetting machine from Vadodara Municipal Corporation (VMC).
Chintak Parmar, Secretary General of Vadodara Nadia Samaj (VNS) who belonged to the workers, said the reason for the attack was that the population insisted on cleaning other lines in the area as well “two of the three workers were beaten, there were CCTV footage of violence,” said Parmar .
“The other line is empty now.
If the jetting machine is used in a blank line, it can cause damage,” Parmar said.
He said that a local shopkeeper who had tried to help workers was beaten by a horde.
VNS representatives filed a memorandum to the Department of Social Justice as well.
The crowd also made a representation to the police regarding the incident.
