Mangaluru: Local residents reported to see beavers prey on fish in the Nethravati River in Pajiradka, Kalanja Village in Belthangady Taluk.
A team of forest officials visited the place, but could not see beavers.
Learned that beavers were seen on stretching 3 km, said Belthangady RFO Thyagaraj.
Following the appearance by the local population, the Forest Department staff guarded a close watch in the area.
