Varanasi: When Ganga adopted a worrying trend on Monday after rising more than 2-MT in 24 hours, the district government and police decided to force a ban on ship operations on the river from Tuesday to the first week of September.
The trend of Ganga’s rise also continued upstream in Mirzapur and downstreamed in Ghazipur and Ballia.

District Judge Varanasi Kaushal Raj Sharma said, “Officials kept the closer era with the surface of Ganga since it began to increase continuously in the past week.

All Police stations from each region have been directed to adherence to orders.

Ballia began to face the threat of large flooding with water levels approaching a danger.
The river flowed at a sign of 55.38 MT against a danger sign of 57.61-MT.
