Kalaburagi: In an effort to rehabilitate beggars and make Kalaburagi free city beggars, City Corporation has launched a survey along with the police department.
The survey team visited the train station, Bus Stand, Temple Sharanaabasaveshwar, Khwaja Banda Nawaz Dargah and the market area – Hotspot to begging – on Saturday.
Kalaburagi City Corporation Commissioner Snehal Sudhakar Lokhande said begging was banned in the city, but there were still many involved in pleading.
“We have taken surveys to rehabilitate beggars,” he added.
He further said that beggars will be sent back to their original places.
“Many people come to town from other places and take to beg for unemployment.
We will rehabilitate and shift them to their hometown.
We also have a shelter for poor people, but most homeless people who are saved escape to get involved in begged, “he added.
