Kolkata: The police have claimed that the brothers and sisters of Sanjay Das (44) and Sandip (32) – who killed their cousins Susmita Mondal (43) and her son Tamojit (13) in Behala Senpally Residence – selling their gold has been stolen for Rs 30,000.
Duo bought liquor to celebrate after the murder, and, when arrested, claimed they were upset because of their cousin’s death to explain their poisoning.
The police also found both of them had debts of RS 3 Lakh.
Sanjay claimed he was annoyed after Susmita revealed Sanjay’s request for a loan and after his golden jewelry.
“Sandip said he was burdened with having to help run the house and hoped the crime would free him,” said CP together (crime) Murlidhar Sharma.
Allegations, police said, have spent around 72 hours of planning and carrying out evil.
They have examined the area three days earlier to find ways to avoid CCTV catchers and spend time at home after the murder to eliminate technical evidence.
“They brought clothes with them to change after crime, noted the child out of the online class to prevent getting a call from the school, washing the cup and even bathing at home.
The duo then returned after the victim’s husband ruined the news of his death and comforted him,” said a source.
The arrest of brothers had made their mothers destroyed.
Gita Das, who shared a “special bond” with Sushmita, said the incident had taken the “reason for its existence”.
“I know my sons to be shy.
I don’t know what they are doing and why.
If I know, I will warn them,” he said.
