Thiruvananthapuram: The Head of the State Police Loknath Behera will retire on Wednesday after 31 years of service at IPS.
Officers from the Batch IPS 1985 were posted as police chief when the LDF government came to power in 2016.
He posted after removing the police chief TP Senkumar, who then fought legal battles against the removal that lasted almost a year.

He is a key member of the team that interrogated David Coleman Headley, the mastermind mastermind, in the US prison.
Previously, he was in charge of the CBI for 11 years as SP and explored and he investigated the purulian weapons case, the case of IC-814 aircraft piracy, the murder case of Madhumita Shukla, the Blast Serial Mumbai case, Uphaar fire case, DuBey’s murder case, Haren Pandya, Case among others.
Originally mixed in Odisha, Behera joined the service as ASP Alappuzha.
He served as ACP (Kochi City), SP (Kannur), KAP-4 Battalion Commander, Commissioner (Kochi City), IG (Police HQ), ADGP (modernization), DGP (prison and firefighting and rescue services).
He has also received several awards, including the medal of the President’s police for service and respectable services.
He will submit a position to his successor at the police headquarters at 4 pm on Wednesday.
