BELOGIVAVI: Interfaith friend attacked, robbed by a gang

BELOGIVAVI: A group of 20-25 men suspected of attacking a young man and a woman from a different community and robbed a cellphone and Rs 50,000 on the outskirts of BelposeVA last week.
The police have arrested one person in the incident that took place on October 13.
The victims who suffered minor injuries were recovering in their homes.
According to the police, a 25-year-old man from Chinchalli Village Raibag Taluk in the district arrived at Bellagavi to write an exam.
The 29-year-old woman, a housewife and her acquaintance, was collecting Rs 50,000 from her.
An anxious in the case said the victims met at the downtown bus terminal and rented an autorickshaw to go to the park.
The driver pushed them into a remote heritage driver who observed that the duo clothes indicated they came from different religions and took a detour to Safe Nagar where four people took the autorickshaw.
The victims accused that the four men asked the woman why he was traveling with a man from another faith and began to hit him.
The driver allegedly drove his vehicle to a remote area on the outskirts where the other 20-25 had gathered.
They attacked the duo and took Rs 50,000, cellphones, aadhaar cards, and other valuable documents from them.
