Ben British Stokes said the knee problem that hindered at the opening Ashes was an older and all-round injury flare-up he could set it into the second match in Adelaide this week.
Stokes scored five and 14 in the nine-gawi defeat by Australia in Brisbane and busled only 12 wicketless overs after shaking his knees.
It was his first competitive match since July after a mental health break and rehabilitation after surgery on a broken finger.
“Having a long break will show himself, but there is no reason,” Stokes wrote in his column for the mirror.
“I did nothing but take a catch and bowl, there was no ball so that the positive one was I might not be much worse.” People will see me rub my knees from time to time when I was in the time when I was in the field, but rest assured I was fine.
It is an old injury that lights up every now and again, but I know how to manage it.
“It’s just a little uncomfortable …
inside and around my cartilage, but it just looks worse than the way I tried and released it as soon as possible.” British Skipper Joe Root has supported Stokes to contribute more in the rest of the series and hopes that the problem will not limit him.
“Obviously, he has a little surprise …
so that it’s just something he shakes now and you can see it back with full intensity and give us all the choices on the table,” Root said.
The second test in the five matches starts on Thursday.
