Mumbai: The I-T department has placed the flat that is owned by the flat owned by Ajoy Mehta, a former Secretary of State and now the Chairman of the Maharashtra Real Estate Regulatory Authority (Maharera), when they suspect it can be a property of Benami from businessman Pune Bhosale.
Mehta was said to have bought a flat last year from a shell company related to Bhosale with less than the market and now remains in it.
“This is the purchase of Bonafid and I use all my savings from 35 years of government and FDS services.
There is nothing left in my bank account and someone can verify it.
I paid more than the market level determined by the government for the flat,” said Mehta.
The I-T department has limited further transactions related to the flats purchased by Ajoy Mehta in Samata Cooperative Housing Society near Mantalaya with the ban on property transaction laws.
Anamitra Properties Pvt Ltd, a Shell company controlled by Bhosale, has bought it from the son of Judge Sharad Manohar in 2009 for RS 4 Crore after taking a loan from IndiaBulls Financial Services Ltd.
is checking all transactions between Anamitra property, IndiaBulls and group companies.
Last October, Nikhil Gokhale, one of the two directors at Anamitra Properties, sold flat to Mehta for RS 5.3 Crore, although the market value was reported more than Rs 10 Crore, in Bhosale instructions.
I-T claims that the anamitra property, which does not have business activities, is the owner of the flat in the name of Bhosale.
