Mumbai: Italian superbike maker Benelli will continue his focus on the 250-500cc motor segment in India advancing, because it has high growth potential in the overall premium segment, said the Head of Indian Business Jhabakh.
Jhabakh also said the company wanted to add three motorbikes again in his portfolio at the end of this year along with gradual expansion of the dealer network.
Of these, Benelli 502C Power Cruiser, the pre-ordering beginning recently, is expected to be launched this month.
Benelli again entered the Indian market in 2018 after establishing a partnership with Adishwar Auto Ride, a subsidiary of Mahavir Group, to establish manufacturing facilities in Hyderabad.
The Indian portfolio consists of three bicycle models – 500-cc TRK502, TRK502X and Leoncino and 374-CC Imperiale 400.
“We are targeting a 250-500cc segment specifically because we strongly believe that there is a high growth potential in that section.

He said India had a large base of people who were at 125cc or 150cc two wheels today, and most of these were increasing to the top 150cc, he said.
Jhabakh added: “We can hold on to something between 250cc and 500cc to this segment because above 500 more becomes too strong or too much leap for most people.” From the point of view of the display price too, he said that at this time, the 125cc-150cc bike fell in the 1.60 lakh 1 lakh lakh bracket.
And, here, the next leap is with the RS 2-5 lakh bracket, depending on how comfortable they are with their bicycles.

So, they tend to improve to bicycles that fall in the range of Lakh Rs 2 Lakh 5.

The market between Rs 2.5 Lakh and Rs 10-12 Lakh is a premium motorcycle market, which stands around 30,000 units every year , he said.
He added: “We want to corner 25 percent of this total volume in 2022.” He said the market seems to be.

He added, “Our intention is to launch more motorbikes in BSVI format.
Ideally, this bike will be launched now but because of locking, the launch is suspended for a more comfortable environment.” Of the four bicycles in the company’s portfolio, three have been launched in January-March this year.
And, for the next few months, if everything goes well and there is no kuncian, Benelli India wants to introduce 2-3 other variants on the market, he said.
He said the company had around 30 dealers before locking but regardless of the situation, he continued to foster his retail trail throughout the country.
The company continues to receive a lot of interest in potential partners and from cities where it does not have the current physical presence.
“So, if things continue to increase, we will add about two outers every month, forward,” he said.
