Kolkata: Around a dozen young people from 24 parganas and Nadia, who worked as a chef in the canteen army canteen in Afghanistan, could not leave the country even though most of the men they cook had left the camp.
With the communication lines taken, their anxious family members hope the state and central government will work together to evacuate them.
Sujay Debnath (32) from AG Colony Ashokeakar has gone to Kabul to work for a catering company that operates the canteen in the camp for US allied forces.
There are at least seven others – from Bongaon, Gopalnagar, Gobardanga and Barasat – hiding in the same camp near the airport.
Although the US Army transportation operator took off at a frequent interval with the army and American civilians, Debnath and others were not sure whether they would be able to travel short to the airport, the past checkpoint arranged by the Taliban.
Sushmita, Sujay’s wife, spoke to her last on Tuesday night.
“He told me that there were eight people trapped in the building close to the airport, along with several armed forces.
The airport was surrounded by armed Taliban men.
Every time, there is a shot of gunfire, which has made men very tense.” “My husband is right Right to panic.

Ruhul Amin Mandal (39), from Teherpur Nadia, was very lucky.
He managed to reach the airport and flew only hours before the Taliban reached Kabul.
“American warriors say there is nothing to worry about.
But the account we get from some Afghans who work with us is different.
So, on August 15, I started to the airport at 7 am and took a flight at 10:30 from Kabul.
When we landed In Delhi at 2:30 p.m., we learned that Kabul had been arrested, “said Ruhul, who has joined the canteen in the US Army Baghram camp in March.
This is the second task of Ruhul in this country.
He first joined a year ago and returned home in January.
He returned to Afghanistan in March only to return earlier this month.
