Maheshtala: Fire broke out in a chemical factory in the South Pargana District of Bengal Bengal Barat on Tuesday morning, officials said.
The fire broke out at the palan industry chemical plant in the area of Raipur Maheshtala at around 11:45 a.m., they said.
Five people were injured in fire, they added.
Fifth Tender API fought with fire but faced the problem in carrying it under control due to lack of water, officials said.
There is no water body nearby, they said.
The locals said they heard two explosions at the factory before the fire broke.
The cause of the fire has not been confirmed, officials said.
Corporing factories are evacuated as precautions, they add.
