Kolkata: Bengal Global Business Summit (BGBS), the Conclave to showcase the investment potential of the country, will be held on 20 and 21 April next year, after a gap of three years, the Chief Secretary HK Dwivedi announced on Monday during the annual Bijaya Minister Mamata Banerjee Sammilani.
This will be the sixth edition of the summit.
The last one in February 2019, after it became biennial event.
But the 2021 edition had to be canceled because of the pandemic Covid.
The Chief Minister also asked the Governor Jagdish Dhankar, who was present, to visit a foreign country to showcase Bengal to BGBS.
“I visited some foreign countries such as Italy and Germany to showcase Bengal.
I will ask you to visit a country to country, if you can,” he added.
In the last BGB, there are 12 partner countries and more than 450 foreign delegates from 35 countries in attendance.
Partner countries are Japan, Italy, Poland, Germany, the Republic of Korea, Czech Republic, United Kingdom, France, Luxembourg, Australia, Finland, and the United Arab Emirates.
The main result of the summit is ‘state to state partnership’ signed between the Regional Province of Bengal and Lombardy, Italy; North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany; And Jeollanam do Province, Republic of Korea, to the industrial development, infrastructure, education and skills development.
Major multinationals, such as Alstom, Accor, D P World, IKEA, Capgemini, Decathlon, Schneider Electric, Oerlikon, Metro, Sharaf Group, IBM, Dell, BT, P & G is present at the summit.
Chambers of commerce and institutions including JETRO, JICA, Japan, Kotra of the Republic of Korea, Confindustria from Italy, the Chamber of Commerce Germany Indo, CPI Duesseldorf of Germany, Center Multi Commodities Dubai, Business Council of India UAE, Dubai Board of Commissioner, Business Council of British India from England, USA-India Business Council of the US, Indo-Polish Chamber of Poland also attended.
State Finance Minister Amit Mitra said earlier that investment proposals worth Rs 12.3 lakh crore received between 2015 and 2019 through BGBS, which is largely being implemented.
Inaugural edition of the event was held in 2015 after Banerjee visit to Singapore to attract investment and foreign delegations to the global industry summit.
Over the years, some big names, such as Mukesh Ambani, L N Mittal and Paul Swaja present.
