Bengal reduces the Gender Vax gap, now among the top 3 nationally

Kolkata: Bengal has reduced the gender gap of women in Covid vaccination to less than 20 doses of lakh mostly assisted by four North Bengal District Darjeeling, Alipurduar, Jalpaiguri and Kalimpong, along with Bankura, who has been inoculating more women than men.
But the gender gap remains acute in urban bengal, Cowin data shows, with the worst farx kolkata, vaccinating six few more women than men.
Hemming District Kolkata – Howrah, Hooghly and North 24 Paragana – is a bad player too.
Overall, 1.9 crore men and 1.7 crore women in Bengal have received at least one Covid vaccine shot.
Throughout India, 30.8 crore men and 27.5 crore women have received at least one dose.
Among the larger countries, Tamil Nadu and Karnataka together with Bengal have led in bridging the gender gap of women in vaccination.
Maharashtra has also succeeded in reducing gender gaps to around 45 doses of lakh.
“Vaccination trends show that throughout India, gender gaps narrowed and some countries, including Bengal, are doing well,” said K Mallick, Head of Child Health and Health at the All India Institute of Health of Health and Hygiene.
“The virus does not discriminate between sex and age.
It is very important that during vaccination there are still such discrimination,” he added.

According to Cowin data, Alipurduar has been inoculating 30,000 more women than men while Darjeeling and Jalpaiguri each has been vaccinated by 20,000 more women than men.
Bankura has also given more than 20,000 shots to women.
Kalimpong and Purulia have succeeded in investizing around the same number of men and women – 1.1 lakh and 6.5 lakh respectively.
But it is the Bengal South Kolkata district, 24 North Pargana, Howrah and Hooghly the most lends to the gender gap of Bengal Vaccination.
Kolkata has the highest gender gap with 23.8 lakh women vaccinated against 29.9 men.
However, 24-South Pargana has become a better player in the region, vaccinating 9.8 lakh men and 9.1 lakh women.
