Kolkata: The state government on Saturday issued orders that allow all bars, restaurants and stores to remain open according to the normal time of pre-pandemic, which is until 11pm, during the festival days.
It also allows the bar to operate beyond these hours, but they must look for licenses for late closure from the Excise Ministry.
Development comes in response to applications of the food and beverage industry that seeks clock extension to anticipate a surge in a surge at the festival.
Welcoming orders, restaurant owners say they will give this sector as large Fillip and help them make part of the big losses suffered during a pandemic.
While eating was not allowed at the restaurant for three months ago, this year was closed for one and a half months during the second wave.
Even after that, the restaurant was allowed to operate until 8pm, it was too early for dinner.
It was only around July-end that the time was extended until 10:30 a.m.
‘Extension for hours to assist in the rise’ industry extends sincere thanks to the government to administer the hospitality industry during these difficult times.
Extended working hours will be very helpful in the rise of the industry, “said President Hraei Sudesh Poddar.
Debaditya Chaudhury, MD from Chowman, Oudh 1590 and Chapter 2, said,” People usually walk for dinner after 10:30 a.m.
Because rain is estimated, if we cannot operate until late at night, we will lose business.
“Mocambo and Peter Cir have been looking for late closing permits for six days since October 12.” This puja will see large quantities in the restaurant because the pandal-hopping has been restricted.
Pandal-Hoppers will remain short and end up visiting their favorite restaurants.
We expected the crowd until late at night and looked for 1 morning closing for six days, “said the owner of Mocambo and Peter Cat Nitin Kothari.” I plan to keep open until 1am for four days if the permission comes, “Poddar added.
