Bengaluru: 1,000 mini buses will be launched in 2022

Bengaluru: To provide transportation facilities on a narrow road and the area around the metro station, BMTC decided to spread 1,000 mini buses, each with a capacity of 20 seats, starting next year.
Speaking at the launch of the new BMTC BS-VI and electric bus on Monday, the Transport Minister B Sriramulu said, “This mini bus will reduce traffic congestion.” BMTC officials say Mini buses will not have conductors.
“We are working on modality.
We have not finished whether it will fill in a flat fee or have a smart card based or smart on this bus,” said an official.
He said that every bus would cost Rs 15-20 lakh.
“We will need Rs 150-200 Crore for 1,000 mini buses.
We will also be able to operate this bus to the apartment complex and other narrow interior roads such as Chickpet.” Separately, BMTC is inaugurating 90 non-AC e-bus (9m length with 9m.
33 + 1 seat) which will operate as a metro feeder service to provide first and last-mile connectivity under Bengaluru Smart City.
Advanced Ticket System Sriramulu said BMTC will introduce a sophisticated ticket system involving electronic ticket machines and UPI card payments / wallet / debit / discharge cards.
“The project under the automatic tariff collection system will be implemented in six months,” he said.
The minister said the Ministry of Manpower and BMTC will issue ‘Vanitha Veryi’ past 1 lakh women’s clothing worker in the city from January 1.
