Bengaluru: Buying medicine turns into treasure hunting

Bengaluru: With the police attack the city narcotics supply chain more often in recent months, drug drivers have adopted the modus operandi ‘without face’ to sell substances that are prohibited.
And, sleuths track drug networks in the city see this method similar to what is used by the Russian cartel.
In what was explained by the police as a ‘treasure hunting’ operation style, the dealer delivered packages in strange places, directions to which – including GPS coordinates – shared with customers using the social networking platform such as WhatsApp after they receive money through digital payments.
“Dope-pusser no longer wants to see customers and exchanges drugs personally for cash.
They don’t even want to spread the shipment of boys.
On the contrary, the drug package is lowered in public places, the location is marked geographically and is forwarded to the customer.
Going treasure hunting trying to find a drug package; this is the modus operandi adopted several times by the Russian drug cartel to avoid detection, “said the senior police officer to Ti.
The police knew the new method after the recent arrest of five people, including two students – PranaV VM and Shamil Y, Koramangala residents; Shamda from Soladevanahalli; Anubhav Ravedran K Gangammanagudi and Mohammed Sakariya from Choodasandra – in Koramangala by Central Crime Branch (CCB).
The five hail from Kerala and were in the early 20s.
CCB won the MDMA and marijuana crystals worth around Rs 10 lakh from them after they were caught after a tip-off.
Led by Inspector Deepak R, the team stormed the house in Venkatapura in Koramangala on December 4 where the arrest was made.
After taking them to prisoners, a police officer said: “The key question is: How does five get drugs? We encourage them to submit their dealers.” However, five men said they had never met people who sold them narcotics.
