Noida: The city’s ambitious electric bicycle project might soon see the light that day.
Noida authorities have chosen agents who will carry out e-bike projects in the city.
After struggling for more than a year, the authority finally managed to bind on the micro platform of the Bengaluru Mobility Yulu Bikes Private Limited which will make the ecosystem needed to reduce the project.
Authority has established 62 docking stations for e-bikes throughout the city, in locations where feeder services for last connectivity are still bad, officials said.
On Monday, the authority also completed the user’s fees after the deliberation with Yulu’s bicycle.
As Sharma, senior manager of the Nida traffic cell, told Tii, “Docking Station has been provided in places close to the metro station, busy market places, multi-level parking lots and business centers and in the center point of housing blocks .
Commuter will be able to take e-bike after a short distance and drop it near the metro station or business center.
“The source revealed that the company, in the planned payment along with authority, has proposed to collect security costs from e-bike users in addition to taking travel costs .
Officials say that security costs will be stored under Rs 200 for bicycles and will be returned post-use.
The company will take RS 5 as a basic tariff and the minimum amount for renting a battery-powered bike and Rs 2 per minute as a fee of riding.
50 Paise per minute will be deducted from e-wallet as a pause fee, if the user stops on the way to the destination for some work.
Authority will take Rs 500 as a guarantee of performance for each bicycle.
However, it won’t get money from agency income.
Agency must provide five electric bicycles in each of the 62 docking stations.
The maximum speed limit of a bicycle will be 25 kmph.
And to make the project financially feasible for agencies, the authority will offer 50 square feet space at each docking station to advertise – this space can be used to make money, officials said.
Agencies will be asked to operate more than 300 e-bikes and maintain infrastructure.
When contacted, a Yulu executive said they would soon return with their response to development.
The company operates an e-bike fleet in Bengaluru, Pune, Mumbai, Bhubaneswar, Ahmedabad and Delhi at present, the executive added.
