Bengaluru: A 30-year-old man was arrested by Detuth Customs when he tried to smuggle foreign currencies – especially the US dollar – worth more than Rs 24.3 lakh by sealing notes at the bottom of the trolley bag examined.
The man tried to fly out of Bengaluru to Dubai, but was arrested with a large amount of cash.
Source with Kempegowda International Airport (KIA) said the smuggling effort took place on Friday night when the suspect landed in Bengalaru from Mumbai on domestic flights.
Following specific information to the Directorate of Bengalore Team Revenue Directorate about Efforts to smuggle foreign currencies, the officers concerned warned their customs colleagues in Kia which they were asking for the suspect and intercepted him when he tried to ride flydubai flies from the airport.
