BENGALURU: A 25-year-old employee with BBMP’s Covid-19 war room has been arrested for allegedly trying to cheat a patient by promising remdesivir drug in return for money.
Jayanagar police on Friday registered a case based on a complaint from Bhanu Prakash, a personal assistant of Bengaluru South MP Tejasvi Surya and arrested Chethan, 25, of Dasarahalli on Saturday.
Prakash alleged that he came to know that the miscreant had contacted his friend’s mother, who was infected with Covid-19 recently and demanded Rs 10,000 for five injections.
“I collected the mobile number of the suspect and called him.
He introduced himself as Shivalingaiah and claimed that he was working with the Bengaluru South MP’s office.
No such person works with Surya.
He misused Surya’s name to make money illegally,” Prakash alleged.
Chethan is in judicial custody now.
