Bengaluru saw 47% of Indian Cybercrime in 2020

Bengaluru: The country’s branded capital, Bengaluru contributed 47% of cases of Cybercrime reported from 19 metropolitan cities in the country for 2020, according to data on the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB).
A total of 18,867 Cybercrime cases were reported from 19 cities, where Bengaluru registered 8,892.
Hyderabad reported the second highest number of cases at 2,553, followed by Mumbai (2,433), Lucknow (1,465) and Ghaziabad (756).
Delhi recorded 166 cases.

A total of 18,500 cases of cybercrime were registered in 19 cities in 2019.

Cases of identity theft, which formed the main share of Cybercrime complaints reported in Bengaluru, nosed from 10,000 in 2019 to 3003 by 2020, NCRB data said.
However, Bengaluru reported the number of highest identity theft cases among 19 cities during the second year.
