Bengaluru: About 60 cases of eye injuries related to crackers were reported in Bengaluru for the past four days.
At the Minto Ophthalmic hospital managed by the government, 23 cases of cracker-injuries were seen at 8pm.
Narayana Netrallaya reported 20 cases – the majority of patients were children – but none of them threatened.
At Sankara Eye Hospital, Kundalahalli, 15 cases were reported.
Two related to a sad injury, and one of the victims was a four-year-old boy, an observer who lost his vision in one eye.
In Minto, from injured people, 19 were children under 16 years and four adults.
Ten of them burned the crackers themselves, while six others were an observer.
“Two boys aged 8 and 14 suffered painful injuries.
The level of visual loss has not been determined,” said Dr.
BL Sujata Rathod, Director, Minto.
Dr Rathod added that the majority of patients were boys and most of them did not require hospitalization.
Two injured were females, including a 75-year-old woman who was hospitalized.
The hospital saw one case of each of the neighboring cities Chintamani, Kanakapura and Ramanagara.
At Agarwal’s eye hospital, my referral, a 11-year-old boy was treated as an outpatient on Saturday after his two eyes were injured.
He must be further evaluated, the doctor said.
The Banashankari branch of the hospital saw one case on Thursday.
No case of Cracker-injuries reported this year at Shekar Eye Hospital at JP Nagar.
