Bengaluru: The increase in LPG prices caught fire through the house budget

Bengaluru: LPG prices in the city up from RS 585 for cylinders 14.2kg in May 2020 to a record RS 902.50 now, up RS 317.50 in just 17 months.
On Wednesday, prices increased by Rs 15.
The oil industry source said prices could touch Rs 1,000 in a few months.
Shipping personnel collect RS 20-RS 50 additional to send cylinder homes.
In accordance with government policy, 12 cylinders 14.2kg each are given to every household that meets the requirements with subsidized tariffs in a year.
Subsidies should be given through transferring benefits directly to the customer’s bank account.
However, many consumers complain, they have not received subsidies since May 2020.
Many housewives now reflect on the electric stove.
“It is unfair to climb the price of the LPG cylinder, especially during the pandemic season and celebration.
Many people have paid cuts or losing jobs during Covid.
LPG consumption increases because it works from home, online class and celebration season.
I plan to switch to induction stove but electricity Also not cheap, “said Ashwini K, a housewife in Koramangala.
Poor urban is the most affected worst.
While many people in rural areas have shifted to firewood and kerosene from LPG, there are several alternatives to the middle class to urban areas.
Some people who received a free LPG connection under the Pradhan Mantri Ujwala Yojana found it difficult to buy refills.
Rupali, domestic assistance from West Bengal who works in Indiranagar, said: “In rural areas, we can use firewood but here we don’t have an alternative.
I live in a rental place and homeowners don’t allow me to use firewood.
My income has been Reduced after Covid.
I do not know how I will manage in the coming months.
I also did not accept subsidies.
“The price of 19kg commercial cylinders also increased to Rs 1794.50 which had affected small business and roadside restaurants.
However, many are illegally using domestic cylinders.
