Bengaluru: Now the month of Sanctification Shravana has begun (from 9 August), the administration of Urban Bengaluru Regency, in an effort to prevent a large meeting, has forbid people from visiting temples on weekends and festival days.
J Manjunath, Deputy District Commissioner, Bengaluru Urban, in a command incurred on Wednesday said the rule would be valid until September 7, the end of the end of Shravana.
Indicates that the congregation can lead to the spread of Covid-19, he said the temples under the jurisdiction of Karnataka’s religious institutions and the Department of Private Charity and Temple will be closed to the public on Saturday, Sunday and on all national holidays.
While the priests can do rituals as usual in these days, people should not be allowed to enter.
Manjunath said that in other days, the temple could remain open to the public, but the Covid-19 protocol must be obeyed.
The decision came after officials expressed concern for the big meeting of people in the temple and market during the meeting on Sunday.
A senior official said that handling crowds in religious places had become a very difficult task.
As on Tuesday, Bengaluru Urban has 8,198 active Covid-19 cases and 156 micro-active detention zones.
Mahadevapura has 46 Micro Detention Zones, East 32, South 24, Yelahanka 20, Bommanahalli 16, Western value, RR Nagar Seven and Dasarahalli Two.
With Covid cases in the city hovering between 400 and 500 every day, the petitive level of the test remains between 0.6% and 0.9%.
With cases in the increased apartment complex, BBMP said the public areas such as swimming pools, fitness centers, parks, and clubhouses must remain closed.
