Tel Aviv: Former Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is negotiating a request agreement in a corruption case, someone involved in the conversation Sunday.
The agreement, which can be signed at the beginning of this week, can lead Netanyahu from the political stage of Israel for years, paved the way for the leadership competition in the twists and turns and shook the political map of Israel.
Any agreement will also release Netanyahu from the embarrassing and protracted trials that have gripped the nation and the risk of tarnishing his inheritance.
A spokesman Netanyahu refused to comment.
Netanyahu was being tried because of fraud, a violation of trust and accepting bribery in three separate cases.
The former prime minister, now opposition leader, denies mistakes.
The person involved in negotiations said the agreement of the application would drop the cost of bribery and fraud and a fully case memo.
The person asked for anonymity because he was not authorized to discuss the details of the conversation.
He said the request agreement was likely to be announced in the coming days.
The person said that a number of elements remained unresolved, including the inclusion of charges of “moral turbidity,” which under Israeli law would ban Netanyahu from politics for seven years.
They are also considering whether Netanyahu will be forced to carry out community service under the agreement.
Including “moral objections” will challenge Netanyahu’s oath to return to lead the country after the 12-year reign ended last year by the coalition of different parties ideologically with a slight similarity than his opposition to his leadership.
But Netanyahu, nicknamed political witches because his ability to survive repeatedly ending his government, could make a comeback when the ban was expired.
He will nearly 80.
His departure from the political scene will trigger a leadership race at Likud’s party, with several parliamentarians who promised to run.
Likud is not expected to remain dominant without Netanyahu, but it will still be a great power under a new leader.
With Netanyahu, the more nationalist elements of the coalition can decide to decide from the fragile union and choose to join their ideological brothers.
Netanyahu was charged in three separate cases.
The first accused Netanyahu received a prize worth hundreds of thousands of dollars from rich partners.
In the second case, Netanyahu was accused of regulating positive coverage in Israel’s main paper in exchange for promoting laws that would harm the rival of news outlets, every day pro-netanyahu.
The third case, nicknamed 4000, alleged that Netanyahu promoted a law worth hundreds of millions of dollars to the owners of the Israeli telecommunications giant BezeQ in return on positive coverage on the Walla news site.
