Paris: Real Madrid forward Karim Benzema took place in court in France on Wednesday who was assigned involvement in an effort to extorze former international teammate Mathieu Valbuena for sex recordings.
The investigator alleged that Benzema encouraged Valbuena to pay a group of suspected teachers to keep sexual tape from the public eye.
Benzema denied his mistakes and lawyers had described the case against players as “absurd”.
Benzema and Valbuena lost their place in the French national team after a scandal, nicknamed “sex tape affair”.
Benzema was called back to French forces for the European Championship this year and the trial came when the 33-year-old striker gained in the field.
The Prosecutor said Valbuena received the first call that threatened to expose sex recordings in early June 2015 while in the French squad training center in Clairefontaine, West Paris.
Anonymous callers said he wanted to “come to a setting” with Valbuena and told him to mention the intermediary.
Prosecutor Alle Benzema was recruited by the alleged desort to convince his team-mate to pay.
Benzema was accused of involvement to try squeezing extortion.
The four facial charges were accused of squeezing experiments.
Real Madrid advanced overlooking up to five years in prison and 75,000 euros ($ 87.240.00) was fine if punished.
Benzema may not attend the first day of the trial after he went to Ukraine where he played in the Champions League group stage match against Shakhtar Donetsk on Tuesday.
