Mumbai: Best on Wednesday announced that it would launch 100 buses as ‘special women’ on Saturday on occasion Bhau Beej.
The plan was recommended by the Chairman of the Minister of Uddhav Thackeray who wanted to give a gift to the woman on the occasion of Bhau Beej by ensuring a safe and comfortable trip for them, a senior official said.
Nearly 90% of this bus will become an AC electricity while the rest will be a new non-AC CNG bus, said source.
Lokesh Chandra’s best general manager said that 100 buses will operate on 70 routes from 27 bus depots throughout the city in the morning and evening.
“We have chosen routes where busy buses and women’s special buses will come as a smelting for office visitors and other women waiting in a long bus queue during rush hour,” he said.
The number of buses is only a woman now going up 137, with a fleet already has 37 women’s special buses.
“Based on demand, we will increase travel or routes for women’s special buses,” Chandra added.
The bus will go to any route that is in demand and crowded during rush hour, not just the office route.
