New Delhi: “Smart Vaccination” approaches the targeting vulnerable population – in the context of Covid-19 India’s epidemic – Create for a smarter public health choice than bulk vaccination, mathematical modeling analysis by the Indian Medical Research Council (ICMR) published in the British Medical Journal (BMJ).
This analysis shows the infection vaccine – prevention with a 60% efficacy that includes all priority groups will reduce the symptomatic incidence of peak covid-19 by 20.6% and total deaths of 29.7%.
Vaccines are similar to the ability to prevent symptoms, but not infection, will reduce the incidence of peak symptomatic cases of 10.4% and cumulative mortality of 32.9%.
This study supports focusing on vulnerable group vaccination or priorities that seek to reduce the incidence of mortality and offer greater protection against the disease.
In situations when the supply of vaccines is not enough to cover all priority groups, model projections show that after the main worker, priority must be given to all of the above 60 and further individuals with co-morbidity.
Analysis underlines that a very urgent challenge in a country as big as India will last even after more vulcinical candidates are available.
“The launch of vaccination must prioritize them the most risky loss of infection,” he said.
“‘Smart Vaccination’ is based on public health considerations, not mass vaccination, looks wise,” this research was concluded.
The study also shows vaccination of all priority groups determined against Covid-19 will have a substantial reduction in overall health burdens, compared to scenarios without vaccination, and complete removal of restrictions.
So far, almost 80% of health workers and 90% of Frontline workers have been given a covid vaccine dose.
