BFI Relents to Return Tokyo Refunded Male Boxers in National Settings

New Delhi: Indian Boxing Federation (BFI) on Tuesday paved the way for the World Championship of the Amit Panghal Silver Medalist and four other men’s boxers who participated in Tokyo to return to national devices after joining the elite male training camp, which is currently underway at Nis Patiala.
The boxers have been summoned to the domestic fold for the first time since their failed Olympic campaign in Tokyo in July-August where no one can accommodate a medal, with a heavyweight boxer Super Satish Kumar (+ 91kg) becomes a Lone Pemuarter.
The other three who participated in Tokyo include Manish Kaushik (63kg), Vikas Krissan (69kg) and Ashish Kumar (75kg).
During this period, the fifth boxer missed the men’s world championship in Serbia’s Belgrade and the National Camp once in Patiala between 11 and December 24 because of their non-participation in senior citizens in September last year.
Because the male citizen is planned only a month after the Tokyo match, the boxers are busy attending felicitation functions organized by each entrepreneur or nursing injury.
When the Indian Sports Authority (SAI) announced the date for the first national boxing training camp for elite men from January 3 to March 14 in NIS, he collected several eyebrows after the names of all five Pugilists returned Tokyo didn found mentioning in the list.
Names for 79 campers (52 athletes and 27 Personnel of Training & Support Staff) are proposed by the Indian Federation (BFI) for 71 days.
Being an important calendar year with Commonwealth, Asian Games and World Championships marching, many see it as an effort to the BFI part to keep these boxers out of national settings.
However, BFI Secretary General Hemanta Kalita told Ti on Tuesday that the names of these boxers had been included in the camp and then Sai also came out with the media release.
“Their names (Amit, Manish, Vikas, Ashish and Satish) have been included in the camp starting today and the same has been communicated to Sai.
We have a meeting of the BFI Executive Board yesterday where it was unanimously decided to enter their names.
Total The number of athletes in the camp has gone up to 57 now.
“Asked why it was not done before, Kalita explained:” Previously, we held an EC meeting where everyone in a round voice decided to make national participation (Bellary, September) for all.
is an important event in the BFI calendar.
Those who win gold and silver will be included in the camp.
Since, all of these boxers do not participate, we exclude their names from the camp.
Now we have let everyone join the camp, will be mandatory on their side to participate in the next national championship.
“Kalita also told that world championship boxer six times, MC Mar Y Kom, also has decided to join the National Camp in Delhi.
“Mary Kom will report to the camp at Igi Delhi.
The four female boxers who compete in Tokyo, Lovlina Borghain, Simranjit Kaur and Pooja Rani Bohra will be there.” Previously, talking to TOI on Monday, governing the Asian Games Pamhal championship had doubted BFI’s intention behind leaving them from the camp.
“I don’t know why they did not include my name in the camp.
I am fit and ready to join my teammate in Patiala.
I failed to understand that even though it became part of the target of the core group (peak) Olympic Podium (peak) and was calculated between the best boxers The country, the Federation has chosen to get me out of the camp.
Just because one bad performance (in Tokyo) does not mean that I suddenly become unworthy.
