Lucknow: Kalka-Bindadin Ki Deohri, Pandit Maharaj’s ancestral house in Golaganj, was filled with family members, students and artists Kathak Maestro on Friday when he was getting there from Delhi.
Maharaj’s oldest son, Jaikishan, granddaughter Ragini and Yashaswini, the grandson of Tribhuwan, along with Chief students Saswati Sen, immersed the ashes in the Kudgean Ghat.
The family will also travel to Varanasi to do the last immersion on Saturday.
Kathak’s own exponent, Sen, who used to appear with Maharaj, said that no one was in India as a multi-aspect like him.
For her legacy and his example contribution, he must be given the Bharat Ratna award, he added.
“He is a unparalleled dancer, vocalist who can play all instruments, painters, poets and teachers.
It is very surprising that he has not been given awards.
He is the most feasible,” said Sen.
Talking about his father, said Jaikishan, “he never distinguish between people.
He really likes to play ‘Antakshari’ that we usually sit while his students will join us through video conferencing.
Even during his last moment of life, he played it With us.
