Bhasha Sangam’s initiative to promote learning in regional languages

The Ministry of Education launched the initiative of ‘Bhasha Sangam’ under the ‘Bharat Shreshta Bharat’ mission.
Developed by the National Council of Education Research & Training (NCERT), this aims to promote language learning as a skill among school students with a formal credit income system.
This initiative has been launched with the aim of teaching 100 sentences in 22 scheduled vernacular languages ​​in the Devnagri script with translations in English.

Speaking to Times Education, a professor in Ncert in anonymity condition, said, “22 languages ​​are recognized by the Indian Constitution in the VIII schedule, but there are 47 languages ​​taught in schools throughout the country.
For example, Khasi and Mizo are not on schedule Viii and taught at the elementary school level and we have sufficient number of textbooks in un scheduled languages ​​too.
For some languages, there are no textual materials available and such languages ​​are not taught in school.
Based on Government Guidelines, Ncert through the curriculum and materials has tried to enter all languages ​​including languages ​​that are not scheduled to teach children at least at the base level.
