Varanasi: Hindu University of Banaras (BHU) has become the first university in the country to introduce Hindu Dharma in its regular curriculum.
The University has begun postgraduate courses in Hindu studies, said the university authorities said on Tuesday, claiming that this was the first course offered by any university in this country.
Courses under the Faculty of Arts will be held at Bharat Adhyayan Kendra, a center established in the University of Centenary years, in collaboration with the Department of Philosophy and Religion, Sanskrit and Ancient.

Sadashiv Kumar Dwivedi said that 45 students, including foreigners, had been registered in the first batch of this two-year course.
This course is four semesters with 16 papers.
“It took more than a century to start such a course at Hindu Dharma at the University after his establishment in 1914,” said Prof.
Dwivedi.
This course was inaugurated on Tuesday by the Chancellor Prof.
VK Shukla.
He said that it was a big pride problem for BHU to start the course that would make the world aware of many unknown aspects of Hindu Dharma and help in taking their teachings to more people.
