Bhu Lab starts testing covid positive samples to determine the Delta Plus variant

VARANATION: Multidisciplinary Research Unit of the Anatomy Department of Medical Sciences – Hindu University Banaras has begun testing a sample of positive Covid-19 cases to determine the variant, especially for Delta Plus.
Talking to Ti on Tuesday, MrU’s head Prof.
Royana Singh said, “We have officially started testing the positive sample of Covid-19 to determine the variant especially for Delta Plus from Monday.
Testing for Delta Plus variant has begun for samples sent here from Laboratory in eastern districts including prayagraj after conducting a pilot project where Varanasi and Sonbhhadra samples have been tested to find a prevalent variant in the region.
“It was followed by other scientific studies carried out by Mru-Bhu and CSIR-Center for cellular and molecular biology ( CCMB), Hyderabad with the genome variant of Coronavirus in collaboration in collaboratively in Varanasi and regions adjacent last week, he said.
The research report was cleared that at least seven main strains of Coronavirus circulating in this area, said Prof.
Singh said that the pilot phase study was based on samples from Varanasi and the area around the city, mostly in April 2021.
The team in CCMB was sorted by 130 samples “at Between the variant of concern (VOC), the most dominant variant that we found in our study was a line of B.1.617.
The variant was also reported as one of the main drivers of the second Covid-19 wave in India, “said Prof.
Singh, added,” Just like In most India, variants B.1.617.2 (variant aka delta) is the most common in the sample we learned.
They were found among 36% of total samples.
Other VOCs such as B.1.351, were detected in South Africa for the first time , also found in this area.
“This study confirmed that the Delta variant was the most extensive Coronavirus variant in the eastern region and above but nothing The Delta Plus variant case has been detected in a sample tested in Bhu Lab so far, he added that it mentioned that the lab contained the sequencing of the next generation of machines for this test.
BHU runs Covid-19 testing facilities at MRU and Virus Research and IMS diagnostic laboratories.
VRDL responsible for Prof.
Gopal Nath said that this lab is also equipped with three RNA extraction and six RPCR machines, five-level-2-level cabinets.
The capacity of the two BHU laboratories is enough to carry out a minimum test of 10,000 covid-19 samples per day.
As the second wave threat is declining, now the lab is run at a capacity of 6,000 samples per day.
About 4,000-5,000 samples reach the lab every day, he said that when the second wave of pandemic is at the peak of this laboratory has set a record of 17,000 samples in one day.
