Varanasi: DR KOMAL VERMA, Assistant Professor in the Geology Department, the University of Banaras Hindus has been invited to participate in the expedition of the Prestigious International Sea Discovery Program (IODP) in the Atlantic Ocean as a micro-palaeontologist, for two months during October – December 2022.
According to October Bhu spokesman, he will represent India in this expedition and will conduct onboard research onboard resolutions along with international scientists from 17 countries including Britain, America, China and others.
This international team will examine to explore the potential of marine energy resources.
Participation in this upcoming expedition will provide unprecedented opportunities for advanced research and teaching in marine science for international standards to universities and nations by international collaboration with prominent ship scientists.
The Bhu Geology Department Laboratory, which works in the field of Oceanography and Micro Palaeontology, is the center of study of changes in the ocean and global climate and the impact of this change in the evolution of sea and organisms.
Many iodp programs are taking place here under the supervision of Prof.
Arun Deo Singh.

Verma’s selection is a great honor not only for himself but also for Hindu University of Banaras, because IODP is the most prestigious and major international organizations in the world directed at the research of the advanced sea and the most advanced research vessels.
Participating scientists were chosen from groups of international experts in marine science.
