BHubaneswar: BMC Panel To Scan Covid Assistance Requests

Bhubaneswar: Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) has formed a panel of four members to validate Covid Aid applications submitted by relatives who died after contracting the virus.
The government has decided to provide Covid assistance of RS 50,000 to the next relatives of those who died because Covid-19.
The amount will be paid from the state disaster response fund.
For residents of Bhubaneswar, a committee consisting of Director of Capital Hospital, Nodal City officers for Covid, District Health Health Officer and a specialist doctor will validate all applications.
BMC said the application will require validation because in many reports of death, the cause of death is mentioned as covid.
“After the application is submitted centrally to the Khurda collector online or offline, we will filter that fall under the BMC jurisdiction.
The remaining applications will be handled by the Khurda District Administration.
A separate committee also formed there to filter documents,” said an BMC officer .
The committee’s mandate is to authenticate whether death occurs because Covid to compensate for the next relatives.
“We have so far received 25 offline applications.
Although the government has made the rules for applying for an online application, many send it directly to the office,” Khurda District Emergency Officer Sanghamitra Behera.
According to the central guideline, everyone who tests positive Covid-19 and dies in a month will be considered a Covid death regardless of whether the death occurs outside the hospital or during hospitalization.
The Information Technology Department has developed software called Caps (Covid-19 Ex-Gratia System) for online archiving applications, get approval and transfer benefits directly to bank accounts.
