Bhubaneswar: The parents of children studying at Loyola School in Bhubaneswar on Tuesday held protests against school decisions to carry out offline checks for class I to VIII.
Parents expressed concern that many children never came to school after entering in the past two years and it would not be fair on the school to ask them directly following the examination.
Apart from the obvious state government orders to conduct online classes, offline and hybrid modes, school authorities do not offer other options except to conduct tests on campus.
“We are more than happy when the government allows offline classes for students.
The concern of the children has not attended the physical class for the past two years.
Without attending classes if they sit directly for the exam in offline mode, it will put them under pressure .
Many children have never attended a physical class.
We asked school authorities to do offline classes for several days before the exam to help children adjust to the atmosphere, “said Pritinanda Maharana, parents.
Parents submit a memorandum to the school authority along with notice issued by the Special Assistance Commissioner (SRC) after school reopened on February 3, 2022.
Examination for classes to grade 9 and for promotion of students from class 11 to 12 may be done through class assessment.
Students can be permitted options taking inspection either in offline or online or hybrid modes depending on the feasibility of the school, notifications are read.
The government has also stated that all efforts must be made by the institution to help, take control, advise their children and parents to overcome the situation.
Parents submit a memorandum to the Director of Basic Education, Satapati Brundaban, to intervene into this problem.
According to government guidelines, all schools must provide online and offline modes for classes and exams.
The department will ask for school to change the notification, he said.
The school authority refused to comment on this problem.
