Bianca Andreescu Canada withdrew from the Tokyo Olympics

Bianca Andreescu Canada has decided not to compete in the Tokyo Olympics because of the Pandemic Covid-19, the former US Open champion said on Monday.
Andreescu is the latest big-name player to choose out of the August 23 August match.
Rafael Nadal, Dominic Thiem, Stan Wawrinka, Nick Kyrgios, Serena Williams and Simona Halep have announced their decision to pass the delayed Olympics pandemic.
“I have dreamed of representing Canada at the Olympics since I was little,” said the number five of the world Andreescu on Instagram.
“But with all the challenges we face because it is related to a pandemic, I know that deep in my heart, this is the right decision for myself.” The 21-year-old, the last competed at Wimbledon where he lost in the first round, said he hoped to represent Canada in the Fed Cup bond and at the Paris Olympics 2024.
Andreescu became the first single champion of the Canadian Grand Slam with an open victory of 2019.0.
But it has suffered an injury that began with knee problems in the WTA final in Shenzhen that year in Shenzhen.
Canadian colleague Denis Shapovalov, who reached the Wimbledon semi-final this year, also said last month that he would not compete in Tokyo.
