Bhubaneswar: The state government has decided to assess student learning abilities after the physical class continued for children VI and VII after the 19-month gap.
Baseline assessment tests for odia, English and mathematics will be held from 22 to 24 November.
The initial assessment of students must be carried out by subject teachers who will help them identify the level of learning of every child.
Thus, teachers can design instructional strategies to ensure the progress of learning every child, notification from the school department and mass education said.
Questions in odia, English and mathematics have been determined by the Director of the State Council of Education and Education Training (SCERT).
“Unlike other countries where the improvement class was carried out after reopening the school, we have decided to take the test first and plan it.
For example, class VI students will answer questions from class IV and V chapters, so that a teacher can assess students’ standards , “said Tapas Kumar Nayak, Assistant Director, Scerter.
SCERT advises teachers to ask students to practice the previous class worksheet to make them comfortable with physical teaching, added nayak.
